Homeschooling

We are an eclectic homeschooling family with a 4th grader, 3rd grader, 1st grader, and a preschooler. As our needs change each year, so does our schooling style.

We started with a very formal setting, having textbooks for the various subjects. As my kids got older, this became harder to handle. Finances became an issue as well. I investigated free curriculums (you can see what I found on the Free Resources page), but those became a little cumbersome as well. Unit studies worked the best for us, and we eventually purchased KONOS. We’ve become a little more eclectic in the last couple of years, but I will say that our most successful studies are the ones we do together, as a family.

I also love sharing what I consider to be my two best homeschool purchases ever (and like a lot of homeschoolers, I’ve purchased a lot of things). I’ve already mentioned KONOS – this is my second-best homeschool purchase. My #1 best homeschool purchase is Home School Tracker Plus by TGHomesoft. While the free Basic Edition does a lot, the Plus version is so much better. And you can customize almost everything about the program to suit your needs. I’ll make a link to my blog posts about it once they’re complete.
