Teas for Colds

These are my favorite teas for when I have a cold:

  • Sage – according to my sources, sage is great for colds and headaches
  • Peppermint – this herb is great for removing excess mucus
  • Hyssop – hyssop has many healing properties. My mom calls it nature’s band-aid. We’ve used it like a Band-Aid on cuts and scrapes when the kids are playing outside. It is recommended to add a splash of lemon juice to enhance the flavor of this herb.

For all teas, use about 2 teaspoons of the dried herb to a cup of boiling water, or 1-2 tablespoons of the fresh leaves to a cup of boiling water. For sweetening, it is recommended to use honey instead of sugar because honey is soothing to a sore throat.
